Kim Skildum-Reid is unquestionably one of our industry’s most influential thought leaders. Her inspired, yet practical, approach and refreshing, irreverent style have won her legions of fans for her books, industry-leading blog, white papers, and media contributions.
She has over 30 years’ experience in corporate sponsorship and is one of very few professionals credited with defining and setting the best practice benchmark for the sponsorship industry. She has a list of blue chip consulting and training clients spanning six continents.
Kim is author of the brand new Corporate Sponsorship Toolkit 2nd Edition, the fully updated new edition of the industry’s second best seller. (See some of the early reviews here.) She’s also co-author of number one industry bestseller, The Sponsorship Seeker’s Toolkit, with the all-new follow-up due out in early 2027.
She provides content and commentary to business and industry media around the world, including Harvard Business Review, CNN, CNBC, Fox Business, Bloomberg, Marketing News (US), Marketing Africa, Success Magazine (US), International Festivals & Events Association, SponsorReport (Netherlands), Brand Republic (UK), National Business Review (New Zealand), Adnews (Australia), Marketing (Australia), South China Morning Post, China Business Review, Australian Financial Review, and far too many more to list.
Kim has keynoted at sponsorship, marketing, sports business, and experiential conferences all over the world, including the USA, Canada, Finland, Sweden, UK, Ireland, Slovenia, South Africa, Kenya, Nigeria, Hong Kong, Singapore, China, Australia, New Zealand, and more.
Kim was a member of two CMO Council advisory boards, and is a current contributor with sponsorship-related content. She’s also author of one of the industry’s best read, most reprinted, and most often quoted blogs. In 1993, Kim was a founder of the Australasian Sponsorship Marketing Association and served as president for its first four years.
Kim is now based in Sydney, Australia, but grew up in Minnesota, on the North Shore of Lake Superior.
She’s a retired rugby second rower, and has been boxing for well over fifteen years. She sings alternative, grunge, and punk with a band. Her officemate is an extra-large yellow lab, named “Kevin L7”, who spends most afternoons snoozing and snoring next to her desk. She loves the Sydney Swans, hot laps, a good cheeseburger, and an icy cold cider.
